PYRIDOXAMINE: THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR DSHEA?

Before discussing the Vitamin B-6 ban, let’s quickly review FDA’s policies and initiatives that threaten health freedom.
First, in 2007, Congress awards FDA for its failures by increasing its power. This was done through Sen. Kennedy’s FDA “enabling act” although the Health Freedom movement did get the “DSHEA product savings clause” 1011 added to the bill.
Second, in 2008 FDA asked for public comments whether the savings clause applies to section 301(11) of the act, that gives FDA authority to ban foods that are being studied for use as “treatment of disease.” We of course submitted our comments objecting to this evisceration of DSHEA and thousands of Natural Solutions Foundation’s Mouse Warriors did likewise.
Third, a prior “Citizens Petition” from a pharmaceutical company is used by FDA as the excuse to ban a specific form of B6 (Pyridoxamine) to negate the 1994 NNFA Grandfather List of Dietary Ingredients for DSHEA and open all supplements to similar bans is introduced.
Fourth, comments are sought on the idea that FDA can ban any nutritional product it likes from interstate commerce despite specific legislative prohibition preventing the FDA from doing so for products covered under DSHEA – that is, dietary supplements and herbs in use before June, 1994. Such products are “grandfathered” in after inclusion on a list prepared by the NNFA (now NPA) at the request of the FDA when DSHEA was passed. Natural Solutions Foundation and thousands of net roots supporters remind FDA that such actions are illegal under section 311(11) of the 2008 FDA Reorganization act following successful Natural Solutions Foundation efforts to maintain language protecting DSHEA products in the bill when in the Congressional conference committee.
Fifth, , in Europe, the EFSD meets to discuss maximum permitted levels (MPLs) of nutrients — (1) some countries support what the the Codex Vitamin and Mineral Guideline, ratified July 4, 2005, prohibitis: MPLs based on a multiple of the biologically unsound, extremely low Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA), (2) the EU wants upper limits based on “Risk Analysis” that would limit levels to below that needed to have any biological effect [even a beneficial one] following the World Health Organization’s Guidance to Codex Alimentarius on how to apply the toxicological method of Risk Analysis to nutrients and (3) certain advocacy groups support a limit based on a safety analysis, which could lead to similarly low levels. The fourth position, which Natural Solutions Foundation champions, is based on the principle of biochemical individuality, supported by extensive clinical and scientific data through orthomolecular science, is that there is, and must not be, any upper limits set for foods: nutrient supplements are foods!
Sixth, based on another one of those “citizens petitions” from favored “consumer” groups, EPA has expressed its intention to ban topical nano silver, despite having previously approved it for topical use as a safe, effective sanitizing agent with no negative environmental impact! If forbidden as an “untested pesticide” The equipment used to produce nano silver is also to be banned as an “untested pesticide”! Once topical nano silver is banned, how long will it be before ingested silver supplements will also be banned?
Seventh, FDA seeks to eliminate all nutrients and objects from health use which have had any study about them published of any sort whatsoever – this is the ultimate import of the dangerous section 301(11) of the act.
Eigth, FDA/CODEX seek to eliminate all nutrients which have not had met an artificial “significant scientific agreement” standard that violates DSHEA’s commercially reasonable standard of “competent and reliable scientific evidence.”
And on it goes…
But back to Pyridoxamine. FDA’s “response” as noted above, to the position that DSHEA protects dietary supplements from the unfair tactic of some pharmaceutical company conducting a “study” of the ingredient for medical use and then using that to ban the competing natural substance, was to throw down the gauntlet at the feet of the industry and ban a legal, grandfathered nutritional supplement ingredient. Here is what the Natural Produces Association said about the ban:
FDA responded “to a citizen petition filed on behalf of a pharmaceutical company. FDA has determined that products containing pyridoxamine, a form of vitamin B6 (the letter specifically cites ‘pyridoxamine dihydrochloride or any other compound containing pyridoxamine”) are not dietary supplements within the meaning as indicated by DSHEA…’ and ‘may not be marketed as such.’ In a confusing twist, the agency goes on to clarify that although pyridoxamine is a dietary ingredient …FDA has determined by the petition that pyridoxamine is excluded… because: 1. Pyridoxamine is authorized for investigation as a new drug … and 2. there is no “independent, verifiable evidence” of prior marketing of pyridoxamine as a food or dietary supplement; this includes the Natural Products Association’s (developed as NNFA) list of grandfathered ingredients. …this development presents a number of problems, including the agency’s interpretation of §301 (ll) of the FFDC Act”
NPA asked for help proving that Pyridoxamine is in fact “grandfathered” under DSHEA, that is, it was sold to supplement the diet or was part of the food chain in June, 1994. For over 20 years the industry has relied on the NNFA grandfather list, now deemed no longer “evidence” by FDA fiat, without hearing, or court oversight.
Here is the gist of my response back to NPA about this ban of a legal, grandfathered nutritional supplement ingredient:

At our President’s request I’ve been reaching out to some of the “old hands” in the industry [such as Dr. Fleischner] about the Pyridoxamine ban and DSHEA grandfathering. [the President and I are co-trustees of the Institute for Health Research, www.inhere.org – I am also a trustee of Natural Solutions Foundation, www.globalhealthfreedom.org]
Here is what Dr. Albert Fleischner, PhD responded:
“Pyridoxamine has always been regarded as a vitamin and is listed in the early
Remingtons and USP as such.”
Dr. Fleischner is a pharmacist and formulator [MS and PHD from Rutgers and formerly an operating officer for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical companies].
Meanwhile, the good folks at [a well known foundation] have also contacted me about this issue and I hope we can all work together to stop this obvious misapplication of 301(11).

So FDA’s response to the comments supporting a broad reading of Section 1011 has been to test how far it can push the industry, by banning Pyridoxamine.
How far can it push the industry? It’s been our opinion at Natural Solutions Foundation that the industry has failed to see the “writing on the wall” and has failed to rally to protect its fundamental interests. Is it finally ready

The November 2007 Congressional study of FDA showed that it is a failed agency; its efforts to “regulate” nutritional products and natural remedies through the 2006 infamous anti-CAM draft guidance was called “an abuse of FDA authority” by Dr. Ron Paul.
It’s our opinion that what we – industry and the consumers of the United States, need to protect their access to high potency supplements is a concerted campaign to Divest the FDA of Food Authority. Congress has, at least three times before, divested FDA of authority it was misusing, when DEA, EPA and CPA were created.

Why Would Anybody Have Their New-Born Baby or Child Vaccinated?

You hear this from your doctor from the media, from the brochures in the clinic, from your friends. But, did you ever stop to think twice about what it all means?
Did you ever look deeper into the issue and the other side of the story?

Your child is just born and one of the first things you do is call the clinic to schedule an appointment for your first “well-baby” visit. During the visit, after about 1 or 2 months, you can expect your baby to be weighed, measured, and put through excruciating pain from several shots in the leg. Your baby has just received his first immunization (or vaccination) shots and you allow it to happen without even questioning. It is just assumed that your pediatrician has your best interests in mind and that immunizations are the best thing to protect your child from a variety of diseases. You hear this from your doctor, from the media, from the brochures in the clinic, from your friends. You figure that the pain your baby has just gone through is worth the protection that he receives.
But, did you ever stop to think twice about what it all means? Did you ever look deeper into the issue and read the other side of the story? (The one that is not provided by your doctor). Did you know, for example, that immunizations may cause serious side effects in children, even as serious as death? Did you know that immunizations actually weaken the immune system and make it work less effectively and efficiently? Were you aware that immunizations contain harmful chemicals that are not indigenous to the body? Did you know that your child might still contract a disease even if he or she has been immunized against?
If you have a new baby, a young child or are considering having children in the future, these are concerns that you want to investigate and learn more about. Many parents have, and they have decided NOT to immunise their children. Let us look into this matter more closely and also consider it form an Islamic perspective. The health and well being of your child may be at stake.
Myths and Realities
Myth 1. “Vaccines are effective at protecting people from diseases”
Reality: Many studies in the medical literature have documented vaccine failure. Measles, mumps, small pox, polio and Hib outbreaks have all occurred in vaccinated populations. In 1989, for example measles outbreaks occurred in schools with vaccination levels greater than 98% (Centres for Disease Control). The World Health Organization has actually found that a person who is vaccinated for measles has a 15 times greater likelihood of contracting the disease than a person who is not. The effectiveness of the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine has been reported to be around 50%. In an incident in Kansas in 1986, 90% of pertussis cases were found to have been vaccinated. In another study of rubella, 36% of adolescent females who had been vaccinated against the disease lacked evidence of immunity by blood tests. Following the introduction of the diphtheria vaccine in various countries, incidents of the disease actually increased phenomenally. In France, there was a 30% increase; in Hungary, a 55% increase; and in Geneva, Switzerland, there was a tripling of the disease. All of this occurring after the introduction of mass compulsory vaccinations in those countries. In Australia, where vaccinations are not mandatory and only about ½ of the population receives them, the rates of illness are the same for both the vaccinated and non-vaccinated groups.
What all of these facts point to (and there are many more related to this) is that vaccinations are not as effective as people are made to believe. A person who has been vaccinated has no guarantee that he will not contract the disease and chances are that if he does, it will be at a later age when the consequences are much more serious. The truth of the matter is that when immunity to disease is acquired naturally (such as through breastfeeding or through contact at a young age), the possibility of re-infection is only 3.2%. If the “immunity” comes from the artificial means of vaccinations, the chance of re-infection is 80%. In any epidemic, only a small percentage of the population actually contracts the disease, many of them being naturally immune. If a person who has been vaccinated does not contract the disease, this proves nothing. Chances are that even without the vaccination, he or she would not have gotten the disease any way.
Myth 2: “Vaccines are the main reason for declines in disease rates”
Reality: Most declines in diseases occurred before the introduction of mass immunizations. Infectious disease deaths in the United States and England declined an average of 80% prior to vaccinations. The British Association for the Advancement of Science found that childhood diseases decreased by 90% between 1850 and 1940, long before mandatory vaccination programs. European countries that refused immunizations for small pox and polio saw these epidemics end along with countries that had mandated them. Other infectious diseases continued to decline even in the absence of vaccines for them. This included declines in tuberculosis, chicken pox, scarlet fever, typhus, typhoid and plague.
So what, you may ask, were the reasons for the decrease in diseases at this point in time. Research has found that improved sanitation and hygienic practices; along with improvements in diet and other health factors were the main contributing factors in eradication many diseases. A recent report by the World Health Organization supported this fact. The report found that “disease and mortality rates in third world countries have no direct correlation with immunization procedures or medical treatment, but are closely related to the standard of diet and hygiene.” What this means is that it is not as important to be immunized as it is to eat healthily and maintain personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness.
Myth 3: “Vaccines are completely safe for children.”
Reality: Vaccines are much more dangerous than we are even aware of. This is information that you will probably not receive from your doctor and if you child does have a reaction, it is unlikely that your doctor will report it. In 1986, the United States Congress created The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, which acknowledges the reality of vaccine-caused injuries and death. This law requires doctors to provide parents with information about the benefits and risks of childhood vaccines prior to vaccination and also requires doctors to report vaccine reactions to federal health officials. The Food and Drug Administration, which monitors this (along with the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention), acknowledged that 90% of doctors do not report vaccine reactions as required by law.
More than 12,000 adverse reactions to vaccines are reported each year. If the rate of under-reporting is considered, this number should be closer to 120,000. Vaccine-related deaths occurring each year may be over 1000. The compensation portion of the Vaccine Injury Act awards up to $250,000 if a child dies from a vaccination or millions in dollars to cover lifelong medical bills, pain and suffering in the case of a brain-damaged child. By 1997, more than $802 million had been awarded for hundreds of injuries and deaths (5000 cases, 700 of which were deaths). Thousands of cases are still pending and the estimated future liability for the government exceeds $1.7 billion. A portion of the money that parents pay for vaccinations goes to this congressional fund, which basically means that you are paying insurance each time your child is vaccinated.
In many cases, vaccinations are more serious than the diseases they are meant to protect a person from. The pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine is probably the most dangerous. The chances of suffering a serious adverse reaction to DPT vaccines are 1 in 1750, while the chances of dying from pertussis each year are 1 in several million. A study at UCLA found that 1 in 13 children had persistent high pitched crying after the DPT shot. One in 700 had convulsions or shock, which may cause learning disabilities or brain damage. Vaccinations, in general, have been linked to disorders of the blood, brain, skin, and nervous system. This includes encephalitis (central nervous system disorder, brain damage), paralysis, nerve inflammation, diseases of the lymph glands, skin disorders, allergies, arthritis, cancer.
National and International studies have shown a link between vaccinations and SIDS (sudden Infant Death Syndrome). One study found that the peak incidence of SIDS occurred at the ages of 2 and 4 months, the time when the first routine vaccinations are given. Another study concluded that ½ of SIDS cases (2500 of 5000) are related to vaccinations. In the mid-70’s, when Japan raised their vaccinations age from 2 months to 2 years, the incidence of SIDS dropped dramatically. The disturbing fact in the United State is that coroners refuse to check the vaccination state of SIDS victims, which makes it difficult to prove many cases.
Other important truths to consider include the fact that vaccinations actually weaken the immune system rather than strengthen it. They only focus on one aspect of the immune system, which interferes with the body’s ability to initiate a “generalized response”. Only that one particular aspect of the system will function. What this means is that the vaccinations produce immune suppression which contributes to an increased susceptibility to other diseases and infections. This may explain why the rate of childhood illness has actually increased rather than decreased in this society. Vaccinations also contain additional chemicals such as formaldehyde, mercury (thimerosal), and aluminum phosphate, which are extremely toxic substances that can lead to hazardous effects. Microscopic doses may lead to cancer, neurological damage, and even death. Several of these may accumulate in the body such that the lethality increases as the number of vaccine increase.

It is important that parents become educated and knowledgeable about immunizations so that they can make an informed choice rather than be manipulated by the medical establishment.

We all learned that Pavlov taught his dogs to salivate at the ringing of a bell which they learned to associate with the appearance of food. But Pavlov taught us – and the masters of mass deception and control – much more than that.
Born in Russia on September 14, 1849, Pavlov, who died in 1936, was so important to Russia’s dictator, Joseph Stalin, that Stalin allowed him to rant and inveigh against the Soviet State without coming to harm. Not many other people escaped the Gulag for the things that Pavlov said about the State and about Stalin. There was a reason.
What did he offer to the Soviet dictatorship which was so important? Not his 1904 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine, not his considerable work on the physiology of digestion and the nature of saliva.
No, the contribution which made him so valuable to the State was to establish the scientific basis of brainwashing, allowing ordinary persons to become so altered in their minds and hearts that they would subscribe to absurd, illogical beliefs. Better yet, from the State’s point of view, these absurd beliefs (“We have the best health care system in the world!”, “Our leaders know best and are protecting us.”, “The FDA and USDA can regulate food safely”, “Monsanto ‘s dominance of the food supply does not impact me.” “Despite his appointments of old ‘oparatchniks’ and globalists, Obama really offers us new hope so we should trust him.”) which, once implanted, were nearly impossible to extinguish. And, once implanted, the torturing experimenter (in the case of Pavlov’s dogs) became the object of affection and adoration. That adoration was also nearly impossible to extinguish.
By studying “Transmarginal Inhibition (TMI), which is simply nothing other than the the body’s natural tendency to shut down thought and action completely when exposed to overwhelming stress (including illness), drugs or pain, Pavlov showed how everyone, no matter what their basic temperamental type, could be forced to respond to that stress the same way, He found that individuals with different temperaments would respond on a different time table, but, unless certain mental characteristics were present, all would succumb to brainwashing and loose the ability to resist the ideas introduced to control them.
Pavlov noted that, for him, “that the most basic inherited difference. .. was [not whether but – REL] how soon [individuals of different temperaments] reached this shutdown point and that the quick-to-shut-down have a fundamentally different type of nervous system.” Rokhin, L, Pavlov, I & Popov, Y. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine brought me a book that he thought I would enjoy, Battle for the Mind, William Sargant, first published in 1957, recently republished in 1997. He was more right than he knew. I had found it remarkably interesting when I read it at the time of its first publication, and I found it even more fascinating this time. But on second reading, it was rather horrifyingly appropriate as a paradigm for what is going on in our world today: People who “should” and do “know better” are apathetic, exhausted, complacent, compliant and paralyzed.
Information on the outrages against our health and our freedom is out there. Information on the “False Flag” events of 9/11 is out there. Information on what Chemtrails are and what they are doing to us is out there. Information on the disastrous impact of GMOs, the National Animal Identification System, Conflicts of Interest in FDA, USDA and other government agencies is out there.
Information on the false science called “Virology” and the deadly, literally deadly, impact of drugs, including psychiatric drugs, is out there. Information on the raids on small, ethical supplements companies is out there. Information on the deadly impact of Codex – the under nutrition and toxicity of which will certainly kill billions of people by design – is out there. I could go on and on and on but you already see the impact: you surely get the point: fear mingled with numb helplessness, paralysis through fear and a sense of isolation, being smaller than the problem and not knowing where to turn first.
This is precisely how Pavlov’s dogs were brainwashed and broken. It is also how the great revivalists of the 18th and 19th and 20th century, including Hitler, controlled and shaped the experience of their converts – stimulation, fear, guilt, helplessness and the dizzying madness of the crowd to carry them along to complete obedience, passivity and affiliation.
Consider: Pavlov showed that:
* Every person has a breaking point, after which everyone would become part of the new psychological order and affiliate with the abusers, showing trust, affection and gratitude toward them
* Strong mingled emotions, especially those of fear and helplessness, would lead to the breaking point sooner rather than later
* Repeated, conflicting instructions or requirements lead to physical and psychological paralysis, hastening the breaking point
* Obedience and affiliation are contagious so that group think quickly and effectively replaces individual thought
* Illness, under nutrition, drugs, glandular trauma or disease all make reaching the breaking point easier and faster.
How does this apply to us? Very well. Recall that in July, 1950 a medical directive was issued in Russia which said that all medicine should be reorganized along Pavlovian lines to make the control of the populace that much easier. All news was controlled. All entertainment was controlled and all contact with real information was strictly prohibited.
Now consider us. We are perhaps the most physically ill “developed” nation in the world. We have a wretched, manipulated, scandalously non-scientific and profitable “illness care system”. We are on drugs for conditions prevented and cured by healthy food and healthy life styles: heart disease, diabetes, obesity, immune failure (including cancer) and auto immune disease, depression, obsessive compulsive, bi-polar and other disorders supposedly caused by disordered brain function. 95% of the world’s Ritalin, a drug so addictive and toxic that the World Health Organization has called for its global ban, is prescribed to US kids. The ever increasing burden of toxins injected into us as vaccines damages our immune and nervous systems at increasing, tragic rates.
Zyprexa, Paxil, Neurontin and a host of other drugs are dangerous, have no real curative impact, but poison our brain function and make us both toxic and suggestible. So does the increasingly widely used barbaric – and totally unjustified – ElectroConvulsive Therapy (ECT).
The media appears to me to be designed to function as a WMD, a “Weapon of Mass Deception” with a dizzying and confusing, manufactured news and election hype, bloody snippets of structured deception, wildly over sexed, violent “entertainment” wearing out discrimination and leading to a state of helpless paralysis precisely like the “Transmarginal Inhibition” state reached by people and dogs ready to shed their reason for brainwashed ideas. Remember, once shed, these brainwashed ideas are nearly impossible to remove.
Put that together with the neurological toxicity of fluoride, the poison that was introduced by Stalin’s scientists into the political prisoner’s water in the Gulags to make them tractable, complacent and unable to mount any kind of psychological, and therefore physical, resistance, and you have a pretty good description of the fatigue, irrational ideas and paradoxical affiliation with the aggressor that we see in the US today when we look around and ask why people are not making huge changes despite the fact that the knowledge is there.
But then the question arises, “How does one effectively resist brainwashing and is it true that eventually everyone breaks down?”
Joan of Arc was never tortured by the Holy Inquisition, but she “confessed”, none the less, to crimes that she did not commit. Why? She was taken to the dungeon where the instruments of torture were shown to her. After letting her take it all in, she was advised to “make a true answer to her crimes” in order to spare herself the horror of torture since she would ultimately confess and be burned anyway.
Is that so different from the pictures of the foreign-troop-staffed “detention centers” all over the internet and the shadow of the FEMA cars with their shackles? Is that so different from the specter of police brutality, homelessness or imprisonment among the largest prison population in the world if we raise our voices in protest about what is happening to our society, our food, our rights?
Both animals and people who will not cooperate with the experimenter or manipulator have a much better chance of resisting brain washing. Sargant noted that Pavlov had learned “When a dog sullenly refuses to pay any attention to the flashing lights and other food signals intended for his conditioning, his brain remains unaffected.” He goes on to note that any degree of cooperation leads to uncertainty and breakdown but that “the thing they [would-be brainwashers] seemed to dislike was a cold, dignified sort of air, rather expressing a certain amount of contempt for everything….
The degree of psychological ‘cooperation ‘ or ‘transference’ that can be established between the police examiner and the citizen under questioning, or the preacher and his congregation, or the political speaker and his audience, is vital to the problem [of how soon brainwavshing can be accomplished – REL]. Whoever can be roused either to fear or anger by politician, priest or policeman, is more easily led to accept the desired pattern of ‘co-operation’, even thought this may violate his normal judgment. The obstacles that the religious or political proselytizer cannot overcome are … detached, controlled and continued amusement on the part of the subject at the efforts being made to break him down, win him over, or tempt him into argument. The safety of the free world seems therefore to lie in a cultivation not only of outrage, moral virtue and logic, but of humor: humor which produces the well-balanced state in which emotional excel is laughed at as ugly and wasteful.”
I would add that the future of the free world, and the world of freedoms that we need, lies additionally in the cultivation of the realistic perception of how many we are, how powerful our conjoined voices are together and how weak, although well funded and well-placed, the other side is.
Over and over they come at us, wearing us down. Over and over we push back and they back off. Through personal attack, through lies, innuendoes, disinformation, illegal acts and dishonorable ones, they come at us because of our knowledge, and our ability to see through the lies (“Mercury is good for kids and does not cause autism”, “Herd immunity is real and you are endangering people who are already immunized if you are not”, “GMO ‘food’ is harmless and will save the world”, Fluoride is good for your teeth and has no negative side effects”, “Chemtrails are not even real”, “Nano Silver is dangerous to you and the environment”, “Nutrients have no biological impact and you get all that you need from food” and so on and on and on) is the one profound threat that they cannot overcome with their bullying and their distortion.
When we are calm, informed, disdainful of their strategies and remain aware that we are not alone, we are so powerful that we can, literally, back the other side off.
If we become so fatigued that we are paralyzed and have no energy left to resist, then the other side, like Big Brother in George Orwell’s social control, Pavlovian nightmare, will have won.
Don’t ever lose heart! Just this month [January 2009] we’ve a great victory for Health Freedom by getting our issue into the Top Ten on Change.org (with 12,062 votes). Then we got Health Freedom on the “official” Obama transition site, Change.gov. Yes, Health Freedom went “toe to toe” with all the “hot-button” social issues and made the grade!

January 20, 2008 – Washington – Health Freedom – the right to determine what happens to one’s own body – stood out recently as one of the most important ideas to Americans participating in the informal on-line poll at www.change.org . Spearheaded by the efforts of Natural Solutions Foundation’s 190,000+ supporters, “Health Freedom” was voted as one of the Top Ten issues to be considered by the incoming Obama Administration by people who registered on that site. Because of its strong showing, Health Freedom is now mounted on the “Citizens BriefingBook” section of the official Obama transition web site, www.Change.gov. As with www.Change.org, voting at change.gov takes place when people register and vote for an idea or concept.
On both sites the concept is called “Health Freedom is Our First Freedom!” to emphasize that without the right to control one’s own body, there is no other meaningful freedom. This fundamental definition of a First Freedom caught the attention of large numbers of people who created a viral internet sensation urging their friends and colleagues to express the same sentiment by voting on both sites.
This concern with the right to determine one’s own (or one’s children’s) health path given the new vigor with which the lame duck FDA administration is attacking natural health options including including truthful statements of what natural products can offer (e.g., no natural product may be presented as treating, curing or mitigating a health problem), anticipated restrictions on the movement of natural products across state lines although such restriction would be illegal under current US Law and taking safe natural products like DMSA (Captomer(TM) ) off the market.
At the same time, the EPA is seeking to regulate nano silver products, which have no known toxicity, and the devices which make them, as pesticides while allowing real pesticides, which are known to cause numerous potentially health problems, to go unlabeled in food. Many Americans are both skeptical and dissatisfied with the regulatory climate around natural health and foods and have joined the largest US Health Freedom organization, the Natural Solutions Foundation, in calling for the FDA to be divested of its food regulatory authority since it stands as a principal impediment to Health Freedom including interfering with the right to access clean, unadulterated, accurately labeled, safe foods.
Maj. Gen. Bert Stubblebine (USA, Ret), President of the Natural Solutions Foundation, www.HealthFreedomUSA.org, noted, “In addition to over 12,000 votes, many hundreds of people posted comments urging the new administration to make Health Freedom a central element of its Health Care policy. We define Health Freedom on both Change web sites very simply: ‘Health Freedom means the right to control what happens to your body, choosing your own health path, making your own health choices.’ Elaborating further, General Stubblebine, a much-decorated Miliatry Inteligence specialist, states, “Slaves are people whose bodies are controlled by others. If we are free men and women, we must control our own bodies and what happens to them. If the incoming President pays attention to what the people are saying, there will be major changes to the way health care is provided and paid for in the United States. If those changes truly encourage wholesome, natural nutrition and natural remedies, we could see a reduction of up to 40% in what the government spends on health care. Natural health care is safe, effective, inexpensive and vastly less toxic than drug-based medicine. It is also the People’s Choice.”

It is beginning to feel like a Community here, as we implement our International Decade of Nutrition in Central America, to complement the projects already under way in Africa. Living here in the Valley of the Moon has given us the opportunity to move ahead with our plans to demonstrate Natural Solutions. We invite you all to consider how you can participate in these efforts.
James and Sandis C. are here for a month with their kids. Although we did not have the facility ready for them that we expected to have, they have rented a nice apartment ($450/mo) for themselves and their 4 and 6 year old – WITH internet connection. Their grocery bill for a week of organic veggies at the co-op today was, they told us at dinner, $17.
Jim A. is here permanently and is our first BIC worker. Tomorrow he moves into a furnished apartment for $175/mo.
Xiomara was here yesterday and fell in love with the place and the project.
We have located 3 absolutely lovely buildable lots across the street with Xiomara’s help (she is a Panamanian and spoke to people not as a Gringo would) and they are all available for sale.
There are many other such lots here so as soon as we can (after we purchase the farm), we are set to go IF others do not get the land first. For example, if we walked into the humble cabin of one of the owners with cash in hand, we could have his lot for very little money. Today. So can anyone else who does the same.
The prices for a non-Gringo were much lower than for a foreigner and Xiomara is in the process of negotiating for us.
Today I spent much of the day with a dairyman who is eager to try our techniques for making his cattle organic. And, wonder of wonders, one of his cattle spreads is directly adjacent to the farm we are in the process of buying!
That means we don’t have to buy a cattle farm to have cattle to work with AND we are working with a person who is open to our ways and knows cattle intimately. By the way, after half a day with Juan (who speaks English perfectly since he was educated in the States) I now know more than I imagined I could ever know about cattle and have an inkling of how very, very much there is to learn about cattle.
However, we are apparently located next to a master dairy man and we are very fortunate in that regard!
Now, I want to talk to you about an idea: we need to move forward economically in a time of economic crisis and peril and there are excellent ways to do it, I think.
First of all, let me reiterate that getting money out of “money” and putting it into a durable good (land, gold – but you cannot grow food on gold and you cannot live on gold – is the most prudent thing I can think of to do at this time.
Bert and I are doing exactly that with our worldly wealth because we believe, as do many economic pundits, that the market will take a quick bounce, then crash. Following that, there will be a serious
deflation (during which prices will fall) and then a rapid and disastrous hyperinflation.
The $6 trillion or more locked up in IRAs and 401s will be too big a plum for the US Government to resist and they will, we believe, gobble them up and force them into Treasury Bonds and then “promise” a low rate of annual return (3% above inflation has been proposed to the Congress).
Once that happens, of course, they will be less than worthless. If hyperinflation sets in, there will be no way the US printing presses can roll fast enough to satisfy that promise and the entire system will collapse.
Not good. So we need to do several things individually and as a community, as I see it.
First, those of us who are thinking about entering into BIC arrangements, either whole ones or partial ones, should seriously move forward. We have excellent forward thrusts waiting only for the
capital to bring them to fruition.
Phase 1: The Foundation has acquired coffee rights to an initial coffee finca. The Founders have used their own funds, demonstrating their commitment to moving assets from dollars to real values, to purchase a small, all natural coffee finca. The Hartmann coffee family is handling the blending, roasting and packaging. The entire crop is under contract to the Foundation to be used to raise funds for Foundation projects. The first harvest is occurring right now and the Foundation has authority to market Valley of the Moonâ„¢ Brand this holiday season. An initial emailing to over 150,000 interested persons occurred November 9, 2008. The response was acceptable and showed the potential of the product, selling about 500 bags. We still have 5,600 bags ready for sale.
Phase 2: Acquisition of small finca(s) with casa and out-building on which our self sustaining, BeyondOrganic™ BioDynamic Zero Emissions ™ farm and farm school, Natural Medical Center and Wellness Facility, Community and Arts Center, School, hotel facilities and homes can be located. Value: Est. $800,000 [this should include a mix of payment, note and price reduction [donation] which this acquisition will entail.] Time line: 60 – 120 days. Opportunities may present themselves which makes it prudent to separate, rather than co-locate the residence/wellness center/seminar center and the farm/farm school. Should that choice be made, the relationship between the various components of the VotM system would be developed carefully to make sure that these units supported one another fully. Currently under letter of intent are two of three parcels with four main buildings (3 houses and a farm building) and five greenhouses covering a hectare growing area, for specialty organic herb and other high value crops.
Part 1 of Phase 2 of the Project is being completed: the purchase of the approximately 2 acres of land where the Seminar Center, Hotel, Headquarters, Medical Center, Intensive Agriculture classrooms and movement center will be located. We are waiting for the final contract to be prepared. At the signing of that contract, the title to both pieces of land goes into our name so that we can borrow against one or both in order to raise capital for improvements if we so choose.
Part 2 of Phase 2 of the Project is being readied: the purchase of the farm with the Greenhouses. We have a variety of projects in mind to make that land even more profitable than it already is now. When we get possession of the second piece (the farm) when we pay for it. Making that payment takes us into Phases 3 and 4.
Phase 3: At the same time as Phase Four, identify, fund and purchase land for residential use. Design and construct facilities, VotMâ„¢. Cost: up to several million dollars. We have identified several smaller sites near the properties in Phase 2 that are ideal for home sites. These can be purchased by the Foundation as funding becomes available. Time line: varied.
Phase 4: Purchase or acquisition of several coffee, animal and produce finca(s) for the Future of Farming Land Trustâ„¢ to demonstrate the application of BeyondOrganicâ„¢, BioDynamic, Zero Emissions (BODY-ZE) agricultural techniques, and to benefit the farming managers (who will have donated their land to the Foundation land trust) through the application of modern means and methods without reliance upon dangerous chemicals and, ultimately, value-destroying technologies. Cost: varies from purchase to donation. Time line: varied.
Phase 5: Development and management of the Valley of the Moonâ„¢ Wellness Center, Spa, hotel and amenities. Cost: $2,000,000. Time line: Initial Seminar Program will begin 2009 at the Phase 2 site. The full development of the Wellness Spa facility time line will depend on whether a structure needs to be created or whether an existing building is being renovated. This will clearly speed the timeline for this phase.
We have come very far in a short time and here is my idea: Each of you has people whom you talk to or correspond with who are worried about what is happening in the US and worried about their own personal well-being or perhaps that of their retirement fund, savings and investments, etc. You are in a strong position to spread the word about Panama and the Natural Solutions Foundation’s work here.
When you tell people about the project, you can tell them about the 1. Possibility of becoming a participant through a 100% tax deductible donation to the Natural Solutions Foundation (US) with a BIC here in Panama. 2. Possibility of a solid off-shore investment for their IRAs, 401s or capital. IRAs and 401s are considered loans and are repaid at the prime interest rate of Banco National de Panama, currently 4% (which infinitely more than the 0% prime in the US) and traditionally higher than the US prime.
3. Possibility of a loan at the same rates as No. 2
4. Possibility of a tax exempt donation.
Remember, when you bring in someone who provides funds, your BIC increases in value by 5% of the amount of those funds!
And, of course, if you are ready to donate for your own whole or partial BIC, we would be very glad of that.
One of our members has put up a $50K matching loan: if we raise another $50K he will lend us that amount of money. He does not want to feel that there are only a few people interested enough to put their money forward. He also is ready to place a substantial amount of IRA funds so he is looking for new blood, as they say, at the same time. So, frankly, are we.

The farm is available to purchase. The land is available for us to buy for homesteads. We are about $100K shy of the farm purchase. That is not a lot of money in the scheme of things! Not, at least, if we all work together.

For those of you who either want to begin the BIC process and supplement it with work or do it without the cash to begin, there are a great many things to do:

2. Administrative support
3. Web design, support, etc.
4. Research (for example, we have collectively spent huge numbers of hours researching how to raise BeyondOrganic BioDynamic(TM) chickens. That research is all internet based. You can help.
5. Providing marketing services

There is pretty much no limit to how this can work BUT remember that we really do need cash as well as labor, too.
Many of you have written to us asking if you could provide BIC labor for room and board and the answer is that it will not work. Here is why: if you are receiving room and board AND credit for a BIC we are supporting you while you get credit for later benefit. That is certainly attractive from the worker’s point of view, but it puts an economic strain on the community at a time when we cannot afford it.
Moreover, it “pays” each person twice – once with R/B and then with the value of the labor that the R/B made possible. So we are asking people who are opening up this possibility to do so as self sustaining contributors. As you can see from the rates quoted at the beginning of this email, self sustaining in Panama is not at all the same thing as self sustaining in the US – it is orders of magnitude cheaper here!
By the way, we had dinner together tonight (organic, of course: lentil stew, salad and toasted coffee bread (!) from a nearby bakery for desert. I am sorry that the rest of the community was not here. Come back, come visit, come stay!
With lovely company, lively conversation with a group ranging in age from 4 to 79, it was a joyous dinner for Bert and me and seemed to be pretty positive for everyone else. Why joyous? Because members of the Valley of the Moon(TM) community were breaking bread (some of it coffee, at that) together IN the Valley of the Moon, around our table. Everyone at the table is part of the community. Let me tell you, it feels very good right here, right now!
Let’s get the farm bought, get the buildable lots bought and be the Valley of the Moon! We are feverishly preparing the City of Knowledge draft Power Point presentation and will post it on the site and ask you for your input to make it good enough to present.
