Good news: As of yesterday, and continuing today, the lab reports that there is no growth in his blood culture, meaning that the septicemia (bacteria in the blood) caused by three separate resistant organisms, is either controlled or resolved.
.
I increased his oral Nano Silver 10 PPM to 12 caps full per day.
.
Although the literature shows that the presence of Nano Silver increased the “effectiveness” of antibiotics dramatically (prestigious Nature published an article in 2013 admitting that effect is “thousands of times” and “could solve modern bacterial resistance.”[1]). Doees this suggest that the effect is actually due to the silver, not the antibiotics? None the less orthodoxy prevails in the medical kingdom and the belief system in this neighborhood says that it is the antibiotics doing the job.

I continue to do my job, which is preparing daily the nutrient mix that I push through his feeding tube four times each day, making General Bert possibly the most nutritionally supported patient in the hospital.
.
However that might be, the fact is that General Bert apparently no longer has a deadly condition in the form of septicemia.
.
He may or may not have another potentially deadly infection in his lungs, However. The organism, Stenotrophomonas (X.) maltophila, is, according to his Infectious Disease (ID) specialist (who clearly does know what he is talking about and is more than devoted to helping Gen. Bert in the best way he can find) so lethal if it spills into the blood it will end his life.
.
He recommended an antibiotic which, given IV, has a very good chance of damaging his kidneys so severely that no recovery would be possible and Gen, Bert would be on dialysis for the rest of his life, assuming that he survives.
.
Faced with that information, I made the decision to allow the new antibiotic to be used since it is the drug of choice for this organism and the risk of not getting ahead of it is too high.
.
His ID specialist relies on the drug. I rely on the Nano Silver 10 PPM. We are both looking for the same outcome: get rid of the pneumonia.
.
Are his kidneys finished? Is that true? I do not know.  Could I have relied solely on Nano Silver when I cannot give it IV and no one else will do that legally around here? Not really.
.
Of course, had it been used IV, yes, certainly.
.
Bottom line, though: today, with the burden of the septicemia, and possibly the pneumonia, lifted, Gen. Bert looks better.
.
Weak, to be sure, sometimes unresponsive, sometimes responsive, still on a ventilator, but better.
.
And, as I said to the very nice doctor covering for his nephrologist vacationing in Florida when he gave me a very courteous version of The Talk, he, the nephrologist, sees the poor outcome patients. He does not see patients with an important variable: intense, targeted nutrition. I suggested he wait to see what the outcome is with that in place and he agreed that the difference might be meaningful.

That is pretty interesting, actually, since Gen Bert has been in this hospital – alive! – for 86 days, which is 85.75 days longer than he was anticipated to be with us on September 1st!

And on it goes. Still transcending death through nutrition.[2]

When I woke up yesterday morning I knew three things as clearly as my own name:
.
General Bert —
.

1. Would be back in the Critical Care Unit that day
2. Would die that day
3. Would survive that day

.
I knew all three were absolutely true but you can imagine how confusing that was to me!
.
You can also imagine how devastating the dying part was! I must tell you that I found myself weeping – hard, quite often.
.
About 6:15 PM I was alarmed to see that he was no longer breathing on his own at all (the ventilator shows when it initiates a breath and when the person does).
.
I notified the nurse who said, “He’s on a vent!” “Yes”, I said, “But that is a huge change for him.” She said there was nothing to do and I asked her to call the relevant doctors since I was deeply concerned by this alteration in respiration.
.
Not long thereafter, General Bert’s heart stopped and a Code Blue was called.
.
He died.
.
He spontaneously came back to life 36 seconds later.
.
I had been asked to leave the room while the team rushed in to deal with the Code Blue which was then downgraded to a Rapid Response because he was no longer dead.
.
Then it happened again, this time for 6 seconds.
.
Again, his heart resumed beating on its own before anyone could do anything.
.
A lovely nurse, who has taken care of General Bert really well, came up to me and said, “Bert is trying to die.”
.
Now, that is pretty interesting because maybe another interpretation of the same data, given how unusual this was, is that Bert was trying to live.
.
I happen to believe that is what was happening.
.
After the first episode, I was surrounded by a Greek chorus of nurses, managers and I do not know who all telling me that I had done everything that could be done, that now we were just doing interventions for no purpose and it was time to let him go.
.
I was getting The Talk in stereo and in the round.
.
I told them all politely that if I came to that decision it would be in my own time through my own inner process, with input from my consultants and my own guidance but that I was not at that point.
.
Then his heart stopped for 6 seconds and they all rushed in for the next Code Blue on General Bert.
.
As she raced in to the room, one of his nurses asked , “Full Code?”, meaning ‘Do you want him resuscitated?’ and when I said yes, I swear she actually snorted at me!
.
General Bert was transferred to the CCU alive.
.
Now all of the predictions were fulfilled. Alive. Dead. CCU.
.

The intensivist says these things do not happen. I asked how she understood it and she said that we do not understand all of physiology and so there are things for which we just have no answers.
.
But what if the answer is right in front of her nose, mine and the collective noses of everybody involved?
.
What if the highly concentrated and carefully construction targeted nutrition I have been pouring into Bert 4 times a day for months made the difference between life and death, literally? [Nutritional Medical Food Protocol]*

November 20, 2016 — Hospitalization Day 81: It has been nearly a month since my last update on General Bert’s condition.* Why? His condition was so fluid, and so precarious, that each time I thought I knew where we were, we were someplace else before I could complete the sentence.
.
But, with the approach of Thanksgiving, and the American tradition of listing what we are thankful for, I thought I would list my reasons to give thanks and share them with you.
.
First, I am not a widow. General Bert, my partner and my beloved for 25.5 years, has found the strength, determination, intentionality and extraordinary stamina to rally again and again, coming back from one seemingly lethal event after another.
.
During his nearly 3 months in the hospital, considerably more than half of it has been in intensive care. He has survived septicemia, which kills 4 out of 5 people in his age range who develop it. That led to his kidneys shutting down, so now he receives dialysis 4, even 5 times a week but is once again managing to put out some normal urine anyway.
.
He has survived a fluid production in the sac around his heart (a pericardial effusion) which required a surgical procedure to reduce the volume of fluid so that his heart could continue to beat.
.
He is producing fluid which is being drained by a chest tube (the remaining one of three) for months. His lungs have collapsed and filled with fluid, been blocked by mucous plugs sending his heart into atrial fibrillation three times.
.
He developed a markedly enlarged heart from the strain of pushing blood through a swollen body 3 times its normal size.
.
He has developed bed sores which could have killed him but are healing (through the use of Nano Silver ointment, by the way!)
.
Pretty much every week each of his many doctors gives me some version of THE TALK in which they tell me, sometimes right in front of him, to “let him go” for this reason or that.
.
As the latest doc to do so said, she had spent [I kid you not] five minutes looking at his chart!  She wanted what was “best” for General Bert and that was to stop living.  Seriously! 5 minutes!
.
But, when I look at his daily blood work, I see normalizing function; I see hope for recovery.
.
None the less, what General Bert does, his astonishing repeat recoveries and returns from, according to all the docs involved, the grave, could not, logic tells us, be caused by his emotional determination and intellectual strength alone. Nor could recovery be caused by the allopathic treatment he is receiving, either, or the doctors would not, to a wo/man, expect him to die despite their treatments!
.
Second, General Bert, uniquely among all the patients in this hospital, and, pretty much in the Western Medical System, as far as we know, is getting real, powerful nutrition.
.
I am adding life giving, life saving factors that are giving him the ability to exercise his will to live.
.
What are those life saving factors?
.
Recall for a moment that people who are ill, challenged in any way, including through stress (and little could be more stressful than being ill AND being in a hospital!) need MORE nutrition, and have to feed more systems with that nutrition for regular function and for restoration/repair.
.
And recall that every drug impacts the immune system negatively (and usually other systems as well) so that system requires extra nutritional support as well.
.
Some might say, well, OK, Dr. Rima, if your nutritional protocol is so powerful, how come General Bert is still gravely ill, still getting horrific infections, still having cardiac problems, kidney failure and more?
.
Fair question. Here’s the answer: Despite his usual outstanding nutrition (I am the resident Food Nazi as well as his wife and doctor, after all!) General Bert developed severe difficulty swallowing and gradually stopped being able to take so much as a sip of water without massive choking and coughing.
.
He went from his normal 174 lbs to a terrifying 130 lbs quite quickly. That is why we came to the US for natural care.
.
We are working against a gradient of profound well-being eroded by profound malnutrition. It’s all about the nutrients!
.
So when his immune system failed, leading to septicemia and pneumonia without any fever to signal an immune battle – because there was none – we were treating a person in profound metabolic deficit. For almost an entire month, there was no way I could give him nutrients except by spraying a very special nutrient into his mouth around the endotracheal tube filling his mouth and throat!
.
Frankly, we had hoped to be able to bring that nutrient to you since it is pretty close to a miracle substance, but we have run into difficulties with that process. We’ll see.

Anyway, once we got a feeding tube into him, I could start working my magic. And that is what nutrition, or applied biochemical therapy is really is! Even the generally worthless Congress of the USA recognized that when they defined Medical Foods in the 2005 Orphan Drug Act. Medical foods include dietary supplements that are used for the dietary management of medical conditions.

Recall that every doc who has seen him here expected General Bert to die, not get better. They still do. Are they right? Dunno. But he is, once again, thankfully, recovering from what is predicted to be a pretty near universally deadly group of assaults.

Yes, I believe that we, you and I, are responsible for the current, and looming, vaccine mandates.

Get mad, get outraged, but get active because our collective lack of activity, our weak push-back, creates the space for these mandates.

And they are, quite literally, life and death mandates.
.
Here’s what I mean:  Take the long view and you’ll see the pattern.
.
Every time, and I do mean EVERY time, we pick ourselves up and generate enough activism, pushback, outrage and vital energy to mobilize sufficient people on an issue, the other side steps back. PUSH BACK WORKS.
.
The mandatory Swine Flu vaccine program of 2009 was already fully funded when it was announced to Congress, but we, you and I, stopped it by flooding decision maker’s email boxes with 3.5 million emails in 11 days – and the program was dropped.
.
The Viet Nam War ended because the hearts and minds of the US was won over to ending the war. And Richard Nixon, though he was a would-be dictator, could not continue the war, no matter how much he wanted to.
.
The will of the people called for an end to official segregation and, the stuggle, hard, long and difficult as it was, ended by creating a new social norm: racial equality.

Reproductive rights were hard won with major struggle, but won.
