McCain and Dorgan Continue to Attack Dietary Supplements…
Battle Rages: Make your voice heard!
The recent apparent demise of Senator McCain’s bill, S.3002, which was designed to kill access to high potency supplements, was trumpeted in the health freedom world as a triumph. We urged caution, saying that while Senator McCain’s abandoning his own bill sounded good, we were quite certain that the dangerous provisions of the bill would be incorporated into Senator Harkin’s S. 510, a genuine food fascism bill. Many said, as they usually do, that we were alarmist and had missed the point of this triumph.
Well, unfortunately, the Natural Solutions Foundation was on target again. Earlier today a letter was released from Senators McCain and Dorgan, sponsors of DSSA (that’s pronounced “DISS-sa” as in “disappoints”) the so-called “Dietary Supplement Safety Act” S.3002. This letter to Senators Harkin and Hatch confirmed in writing what had been rumored for a few days: they were abandoning their ill-considered bill to gut the law that protects Americans’ access to high potency nutrients, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA). That law was adopted by a unanimous Congress responding to strong pressure from the Health Freedom Movement. The McCain/Dorgan bill has just died due to very powerful PUSH BACK from a more mature and even more effective Health Freedom Movement, led by over 390,000 emails to the Senate and decision makers through Health Freedom USA’s Action Item. Sounds like a triumph for the pro health freedom forces, right?
But this battle for the survival of high potency nutrients is not over yet. The letter asks Harkin and Hatch to import some of the worst provisions of S.3002 into another pending fake “safety” bill, S.510… literally imposing the Codex Alimentarius “approved dietary supplement list” instead of the consumer’s right to choose, protected in current law. Remember, the United States is the ONLY high potency nutrient country in the world. The globalizing forces have long had their eyes set on the destruction of this legally granted freedom to choose high potency nutrients, each of which cuts into the huge profitability of Big Pharma products. Each of these dangerous bills is designed to control more and more of your freedoms around food and supplements and, finally, control them out of existence.
This battle is between your freedom to control your own body and how you use it and those who take all such freedom from you. It is, truly, the “Mother of all Battles” with regard to supplements and other dietary strategies to be well or get that way.

You may remember our Open Letters to other folks in the Health Freedom Movement and the absolutely underwhelming response they received. This time, however, it would appear that things may have shifted for the better. We hope to see, and bring you, many more such good followership items from other Health Freedom activists! Then consider the fact that their proven potential to generate sales for other drugs once the first drug has been taken (quite an effective business market, as the spread sheets demonstrate) is directly threatened by

3. Health Freedom to allow people to reject allopathic solutions to real or imagined problems and use natural ones instead.
Senator McCain’s bill, S. 3002, now being justified as “merely to protect against athletes doping” and downplayed as “not liekly to get out of committee” is a direct Big Pharma ploy to make sure the supplements you depend upon are taken away from you. This bill is a “stalking horse” for the equally bad “food safety” bill S 510 that your Push Back had stalled in committee. Watch for one or the other to be amended to include the worst provisions of the other and then pushed for a vote.
Will this happen? Not if we continue to Push Back!
If our outrage and vocal response as the Health Freedom netroots keeps these bills in committee, congratulations to us. It may return yet again, from yet another Congressional prostitute… and we will keep pushing it back! Yes, it is, of course, likely that the McCain bill is merely a stalking horse, a diversion, if you will, to allow Sen. Harkin’s horrific “Food Safety” [NOT!] Bill to be amended to “satisfy” McCain’s interests.

And, while we are on the subject of clean, unadulterated food, I have two things more to share with you: Genetically Modified Foods, which the FDA approves just, well, just BECAUSE, have no meaningful examination of safety data prior to allowing a patented seed or animal into your food supply. The USDA, headed by Seretary Vilsik, a former Monsanto Executive, exercises no control or restriction over these “foods” whatsoever.
Bayer Crop Sciences’ pharmaceutical rice has contaminated the entire South Eastern US rice growers’ livelihood. GMO alfalfa will certainly contaminate all alfalfa in the US now that the shamefully inadequate USDA sham environmental imapact study has been released by that corporate-controlled agency.
Organic cows eat organic alfalfa (the fifth largest crop in the US) so there may well be no more organic beef or milk production in North America by the time these perennial plants distribute their patented DNA over the North American Continent thorugh the work of wind, bees, birds and animals.

The FDA would clearly rather that we have no hope, no communication system, no health options other than dangerous drugs and no voice. Like him or not, Kevin Trudea speaks up loud and clear for that which he believes. He believes in natural cures. His speech, like yours, is protected by the First Amendment. Or so you would think. Kevin is facing a $37 million dollar fine because he told people that his diet plan was “easy” and Judge Gettleman says it is not “easy” — without, of course, trying it. And he is facing a month in jail NOW because he asked his supporters to tell Judge Gettleman about their diet experience and their support for Kevin. 300 people used the Judge’s public email address, it is said, “crashing” the emai system. That so enraged the judge that he sentenced Trudeau to 30 days in jail! Is it possible to “crash” an email system with a few hundred emails? Of course not. And even if it were, it’s still free speech, just like it was when you “crashed” the FDA’s comment system in 2007 with 198,000 emails, stopping the agency’s anti-CAM gudiance.
UPDATE: SATURDAY, Feb 20, 2010: “The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Kevin Trudeau won’t go to jail today. An appeals court granted his emergency appeal today and said it will hear it next week.” Why was 2010 Health Freedom War Council speaker and radio personality Kevin Trudeau ordered to jail by a Federal Court? What was his “contempt”? He gave out the public email address of said Federal judge and 300 citizens sought to petition the judge for redress of grievances… surely a ‘terrorist’ act!

Speaking Health Truth Carries Jail Time in the US?
Jim Folsom is 60 years old. He believes in (as I do), and sells (as I do not) Rife devices. These frequecy-emitting health tools are legal to sell in the United States as long as no claims are made for them. The FDA and FTC, engaging in their on-going criminal collusions to kill yet another safe and effective technology which people might want to use instead of drugs (exactly as they are trying to kill colloidal and nano silver, www.Nutronix.com/naturalsolutions, the universal antibiotice), brought criminal charges against Jim Folsom for making “false” claims and selling an illegal device. Jim was convicted in a Federal Court of making false claims because a book, published 50 years ago, uses the word “Cure” in its title!
Before you decry the outrage perpetrated by the jury, you have to ask “Why didn’t the jurors do better for Jim?” The answer is even more chilling than the sentence the judge handed down: ALL of Jim’s witnesses and ALL of his evidence was kept from the jury by motions from the agencies and the collusion of the Court. He was tried by a jury that was not allowed to know that it has the power to refuse to convict “despite the law” — this Right of Jury Nullification is how bad laws used to be overturned by the community, but this essential Right of the People is hidden from the juries and truly, no one in America today ever receives a true, Constitutional trial by a jury of his/her peers!
He has been sentenced to 51 months in jail, including the 10 months he has already spent in custody. The FDA wanted to impose a sentence of 15 years, the “Sentencing Guidelines” call for 11 years. Oh, and by the way, the FDA has asked the Court for permission to destroy the evidence by destroying every one of the Rife machines they seized, including the device that PROVES that Rife devices are “grandfathered” under the law! Jim was raided by armed FDA Marshals who violated his freedoms by the bagful. Now the government wants to violate all our freedoms by denying that Rife devices have been around since before the medical devices law. Attempts by constituted authorities to deny historical reality are usually an indication of the moral and intellectual bankruptcy of the system. It is terrible and sobering to realize that good people like Jim Folsom are victims to the lies that lie at the heart of the Federal control system. How long will Americans allow themselves to be victimized by their alleged, and ever so self-serving “protectors?”

You may remember our Open Letters to other folks in the Health Freedom Movement and the absolutely underwhelming response they got. This time, however, it would appear that things may have shifted for the better. We hope to see, and bring you, many more such good followership items from other Health Freedom activists! Let this be a major sea change!
The Natural Solutions Foundation firmly believes that the more we work together, the easier it will be to move from Push Back to Take Down! This petition is a moderately good recounting of the health freedom issues. While not exhaustive, there are a number issues enumerated here which we have brought to you previously in what we believe to be effective tactics for real change.
We don’t all agree on all the items in the list, but the activists who drafted it are mostly good people and mostly allies, so we are happy to seek additional signatures to the Health Revolution Petition. While a laundry list of items of this sort may not bring about administrative, legislative or judicial changes as our far more targeted Action Items can and do, it will serve as notice to TPTB (the powers that be). For that reason, we suggest that you sign this petition to serve yet another notice that we care – deeply – about these issues.
A Bitter Brew for Freedom
When the State uses its immense power to oppress those who criticise it, we have tyranny, pure and simple.
Like the Tea Party Movement or no (and, when it comes to Constitutional issues, it does not matter if you do like them or not) it is nothing short of a constitutional exercise of First Amendment Rights, precisely as Kevin Trudeau’s speech “offense” and Jim Folsom’s research “crime” are.
The Breaking News, Hot Off the Presses latest assault on the right to free speech is the assault on the Tea Party Movement. The morass of legal and tax complications which these organizations are suddenly being told they must wade through sucessfully is intended to be daunting and dangerous so that the organizations can always be pulled up short because they did not do this or that exactly right. It takes a lawyer to figure it out. We’d like to help the Tea Party survive and grow because we believe in free speech. We need competent legal advice for them to do so. Under both the Constitution and recent case law, it is possible to engage in expressive association activities without becoming political parties or action organizations; a recent Supreme Court case which makes it clear that the First Amendment trumps goverment political speech regulation. After all, the speech rights it gave to corporate persons apply to non governmental organizations (and people?) as well.
We must keep the voice of freedom strong for as many of those “thousand cuts” as we can and this is yet another way to do so.

The USDA, headed by Seretary Vilsik, a former Monsanto Executive, exercises no control or restriction over these “foods” whatsoever.
Bayer Crop Sciences’ pheamceutical rice has contamianted the entire South Eastern US rice growers’ livlihood. GMO alfalfa will certainly contaminate all alfalfa in the US now that the shamefully inadequate USDA sham environmental imapact study has been released by that corporate-controlled agency.
Organic cows eat organic alfalfa (the fifth largest crop in the US) so there may well be no more organic beef or milk production in North America by the time these perennial plants distribute their patented DNA over the North American Continent thorugh the work of wind, bees, birds and animals.

Let me tell you my true silver story. On January 6, 2010, shortly after the 2010 Health Freedom War Council, General Bert and I flew to Denver. GMO foods are beloved of
1. Companies who make agricultural poisons like Glyphosate or Roundup(R), a wildly dangerous chemical which is sprayed on food crops to kill everything BUT the crop since it has been genetically modified to resist the poison. Of course, chemical use increases since super bugs and super weeds develop which are resistant to the poison. New generations of poisons are developed and the cycle repeats. Except that people, fish, frogs, plants and other animals all get sick and die, become infertile and whose genetic make up is forever changed in ways which only the future will show. 95% of all GMO seed is modified to make it resistant to these chemicals, or to cause the plants to secret the chemicals at dangerous levels.
2. Drug companies who make dangerous chemicals to treat what happens to the plants, animals and people who are exposed to the agricultural poisons either through contact or in their food, water or air and what happens when genetically modified material is woven into the cells of the human or animal that eats it.
3. Biotech companies that patent living organisms and then exert as close to a monopoly as they can without regard to the impact on biosphere, individuals of communities now or in the future
4. Medical concerns that exist to manage illness since GMOs enhance illness prevalence and incidence in a wide variety of organ systems, including the production of totally unknown proteins, the long term effects of which are unknown toxicities
5. Genocidal madmen and women, Illuminati and globalists whose intent is to reduce the population of the planet for reasons that make sense to them to a 90% depopulation level.
These 5 groups are one and the same: Monsanto, for example, makes drugs, agricultural chemicals and genetically modified seeds. They have been responsible for the destruction of communities and suicides, starvation, crop failures, endless illness and needless death around the world (which, all together, is what made them the 2009 Forbes Magazine Company of the Year!)
Codex Alimentarius, like FDA and USDA, love GMOs because they are controlled by these same groups. In adopting the Report on the Ad Hoc Committee on Foods Derived from Biotechnology (GMOs, in other words), the Codex Commission, the central body of Codex) adopted Annex III as well. This amazing document states that the impact of plants modified to produce nutrients and their safety was unknown, that to find that out, large scale human testing would be necessary (on whom, and with what sort of informed consent, since, at least in the US, labeling these items is illegal!), that some of these substances might not be effective nutritionally and might even be anti-nutrients. None the less, this document was adopted without any opposition from the then 182 member nations of Codex.
Do you really want to eat stacked GMO corn? Do you want to eat animals which have eaten it? I don’t.
There is, remember, no scientific safety testing done by the US government on GMOs. ALL GMOs are deemed to be “substantially equivalent” (wait … they are different enough to be patented but not to be labeled? Oh, sorry. I forgot: the scientifically illiterate George H. W. Bush declared that to be the case and FDA adopted that so that now it is illegal to identify GMOs lest we reject them).
Well, I think that is a great idea, rejecting them. Better than that, let’s ban them. Totally. It will take work and persistence, but we can do it.

Monsanto’s GMO Perversion of Food

In the 2010 growing season Monsanto plans to unleash its latest Frankenfood experiment on the American and Canadian public, a new version of genetically mutated corn with eight abnormal gene traits called Genuity SmartStax corn. It is the culmination of an astonishing scandal that has been steadily building over the past decade. During this time Monsanto’s mutated seeds have grown to 90% of the U.S. soy crop and 85% of the corn crop – and wheat is next on their agenda. Their efforts have been marked by corporate bullying and have drawn the attention of the Justice Department who is conducting an antitrust investigation. All the while they have been spending millions on lobbying to fast track their agenda before the American public even realizes what hit them. Monsanto is making an ominous power play to corner the worldwide market on food and seeds. In the process they are adversely altering the very nature of food itself.
Few people would eat Monsanto’s “food” if they understood what it was or knew that they were eating it. President Obama and his family won’t eat it. Neither did the Bush family. Even a Monsanto employee cafeteria rejects it. This is no laughing matter. Your health and the health of your children and grandchildren are at stake. It seems more like a scene from a horror flick than something happening in modern day America. Imagine your digestive tract turned into a Roundup Ready herbicide factory and other warped genetic signals slowly and progressively rotting away your health. Unlike acute food poisoning from infectious E.coli, it is a slow and insidious poisoning.
Why GMO Food is Dangerous
Monsanto’s GMO (genetically modified organism) technology inserts non-food genes, genes from other species, into the DNA of food, altering the very nature of food itself. In some cases these genes make the crops more tolerant to the Roundup Ready herbicide made by Monsanto and in other cases the genes abnormally cause the DNA of food cells to produce toxic proteins that act as pesticides.
Most people are not comfortable with the concept of altering the nature of food in a grand genetic experiment with unknown consequences. The idea of food producing its own internal toxin is equally abhorrent. After all, who wants to eat toxic food? Even fewer trust this technology in the hands of Monsanto, a company with a history of blatant disregard for human health. It was Monsanto that knowingly poisoned the planet with toxic PCBs.
The process of making GMO seeds also poses health risks. Viral promoter genes are used during this production process and become part of the DNA mix, posing a risk for new types of viral disease. An unintended side-effect of this production technology is chronic activation or suppression of normal genes in the modified plants. This alters the actual nutrient structure of food and the function of the proteins within that food – a very serious matter.
The entire process of producing GMO seeds is also unpredictable. It creates multiple random genetic events in every food cell invaded by the mutant genes. Because each gene doesn’t just do one thing and is highly interactive with other genes, the production of GMO food is not consistent and therefore safety cannot be guaranteed – especially when you understand that our scientific knowledge of gene interdependencies is in its infancy.
Eating food that is mutated by other non-food species is a grand experiment to say the least. GMO mutants can transfer to the living bacteria in your digestive tract, as has been shown in animal experiments. This can adversely change the way your gut bacteria behave so that they create pesticides and become more resistant to your immune system and medical treatments. If the GMO mutants were to transfer to an existing infection in your digestive tract then it could create your own superbug.
Because the proteins in GMO food are structurally different than normal food they significantly increase the risk for allergy. Allergy is one form of inflammation that is likely to result from GMO food, but there are many other potential sources. These include the mis-metabolism of the food, the inherent toxicity of the food, and the pesticide residues on the food. These inflammatory problems of GMO food will additively contribute to other forms of inflammation such as pollution and stress and add to the total inflammation burden sets the stage for many diseases. It is likely that GMO food will have a significant impact on pregnancy problems and developmental problems in children. At this time nobody can rule out GMO as a possible causative factor in Autism, as the rates of both have risen together. A recent re-evaluation of data provided by Monsanto showed that various types of GMO corn caused significant inflammatory organ damage to rats.
It has now been shown that the health consequence of eating high amounts of Roundup Ready residue that is being sprayed in ever-higher amounts on GMO crops is the disruption of your endocrine system. A recent study shows that these residues of Roundup Ready are highly interactive with sex hormones and significantly disrupt their function.
A 2008 Austrian government study showed that feeding GMO corn to mice for multiple generations resulted in fertility issues and weakened kidneys, as well as changes in metabolic pathways involved with inflammation, cholesterol, and protein. Here is a link to the 105 page report.
GMO crops are also drastically and adversely altering soil quality. In fact, soil animals such as earthworms are now found to have incorporated GMO mutant corn genes into their cells. This finding is of extreme importance to potential human health problems. There is certainly nothing preventing this from happening to humans.

Corporate Cronyism – A Corrupt FDA Places the Public in Danger
We now know that FDA scientists originally working on the issue of the safety of GMO food had considerable concerns that included allergies, toxins, adverse nutritional effects, and new diseases. They urged long-term studies but were ignored by FDA management who instead decided that GMO food was “substantially equivalent” to normal food. In 1992 these managers issued the following policy statement in the Federal Register, “The agency is not aware of any information showing that foods derived by these new methods differ from other foods in any meaningful or uniform way.” In retrospect, that policy, which stands to this day, was a flat out lie and a treasonous betrayal of the public trust.
Court cases have forced into public view the documents expressing the concerns of the FDA scientists. You can read them all at this link to the BioIntegrity.Org website. In fact, rushing GMO foods to market also represents a serious breach of scientific integrity by the overall research community.
Today, the FDA is a world leader in proteomic technology, the advanced analysis of protein structure and function. Italian researchers using proteomics have already proven beyond any question that GMO food is so genetically different from normal food that it cannot possibly be considered substantially equivalent. Certainly the FDA could discover this fact for themselves in a matter of hours. Why are FDA scientists in handcuffs and not taking action?
Part of the FDA management team’s culture of corruption is a revolving door with the various companies they are supposed to be regulating, the very definition of corporate cronyism. These shenanigans have had the net effect of the FDA acting primarily as a police force bully representing various powerful lobbies that buy protection and marketing favors, while stomping on the rights of the little guys like organic family farms and consumers. In the case of food, Monsanto wins the gold medal for influence pedaling at the expense of human health.
One of the more egregious examples of cronyism is Michael Taylor. He was an FDA staff lawyer and Executive Assistant to the FDA Commissioner from 1976 to 1981. From 1981 to 1991 he worked at the law firm of King and Spaulding, acting as Monsanto’s lawyer and lobbyist. He was a major proponent for overturning the Delaney Clause, a 1958 law prohibiting the introduction of known carcinogens to processed foods, a law Monsanto hated and which was eventually overturned by Clinton in 1996. His main responsibility during this time was gaining regulatory approval of Monsanto’s genetically modified cancer-causing bovine growth hormone (rBGH).
To complete his efforts on the bovine growth hormone issue Taylor went back to work for the FDA in 1991 with the title Deputy Commissioner for Policy at the Food and Drug Administration. He was directly responsible for writing the FDA policy on “substantial equivalence” which initially ushered in the rBGH era and to this day enables Monsanto to market its GMO mutated food with no appropriate oversight by the FDA as to safety. He also formulated policy that prevented milk producers from informing consumers that their milk was free of bovine growth hormone – intentionally preventing consumers from being able to tell what was in the milk product they were consuming.
After accomplishing his dirty work, he left the FDA in 1994 and went to work for Monsanto as Vice President for Public Policy, working on Monsanto’s long range plans. More recently, he became a Senior Fellow at Resources for the Future (RFF) and Director of the Risk, Resources and Environmental Management division. In this role, he strategized how to get Monsanto’s GMO crops into Africa, working closely with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation. He also worked closely with the Bush Administration, and is the point man in helping an elite agenda to spread GMO seeds and biotech dependence around the world.
You guessed it – now he is back at the FDA in a new position the Obama Administration created – Senior Advisor to the Commissioner, working primarily on issues of food safety! “I am pleased to welcome Mike Taylor back to the FDA,” Commissioner of Food and Drugs Margaret A. Hamburg, M.D., said in announcing Taylor’s appointment. “His expertise and leadership on food safety issues will help the agency to develop and implement the prevention based strategy we need to ensure the safety of the food we eat.”
As Monsanto, in anti-competitive collusion with Dow, takes their new GMO toxic and mutated corn to market, stacked with eight genes, it should come as no surprise that absolutely no safety testing is being required by the FDA. Never before have there been eight genes altered simultaneously within the cells of food. One gene is bad enough. Three is horrendous. But eight?
The fact that the FDA is not requiring extensive safety testing by independent sources of this highly unpredictable and dangerous technology is unthinkable. It is a grim day when the fox is in charge of the henhouse.
There Is No Good Reason for Monsanto’s GMOs
If you listen to Monsanto and their business cohorts such as Cargill, they state they are trying to feed the world. In reality, the world could eliminate Monsanto’s mutated food tomorrow and it would be a better place. It could also do without Cargill acting as an unregulated food banker, profiting on the manipulation of food sales at the expense of farmers in a way that is every bit as bad as the worst of Wall Street. There is no need for Monsanto’s GMO mutated seeds. They offer no advantages. It is an industry being propped up by unelected bureaucrats and elected officials on the receiving end of Monsanto’s multi-million dollar lobbying operation.
Michael Taylor is one example of corporate crony influence, there are many others. The USDA is profiting from Monsanto’s seeds that cannot be used the next growing season (the Terminator aspect of the problem). The EPA’s failure to regulate the amounts of Roundup Ready used on food is yet another scandal. It’s all about profits and control – while undermining the world’s farmers and the biodiversity and sustainability of crops.
Contrary to the Monsanto and Cargill propaganda, GMO technology does not increase crop yields, as has been fully documented in the Union of Concerned Scientists report titled Failure to Yield. And GMO crops are very bad for the carbon footprint.
The fact that the Obama administration is actively forwarding Monsanto’s efforts should be a grave concern to every American. Of course, the last 16 years of Clinton and Bush also did everything in their power to help Monsanto. No wonder Americans are fed up. Politicians in both parties are beholden to the golden idol, not the best health interests of its citizens.
