In last Tuesday’s election, Arizona voters were given the chance to preserve their right to choose their own doctors, their own treatments and their own health options. Proposition 101, The Freedom of Choice in Health Care Act” said, “no law shall be passed that restricts a person’s freedom of choice of private heath care systems or private plans of any type” and that “No law shall interfere with a person’s right to pay directly for lawful medical services ….”
Specifically, voters were asked to approve a Proposition which stated that no laws shall be passed which:

~ Interfere with a person’s or entity’s right to pay directly for lawful medical or other healthcare services.
~ Impose a penalty or fine, of any type, for choosing to obtain or decline health care coverage.
~ Impose a penalty or fine, of any type, for participation in any particular health care system or plan.
Insurance companies and government agencies went wild and funded strong opposition to the idea that Arizonians could control the conduct – and cost – of their own health care.
Amazingly, Arizona voters rejected the idea by a small margin. But your state could become the first to make your right to choose your own health care, unabridged by law, your choice. It’s up to you.

On Tuesday Arizonans will vote on a ballot initiative that could resonate in the national debate over the future of health care. Proposition 101, the Freedom of Choice in Health Care Act, has set off a storm of opposition, though its language hardly seems controversial. It reads that “no law shall be passed that restricts a person’s freedom of choice of private heath care systems or private plans of any type.” Also: “No law shall interfere with a person’s right to pay directly for lawful medical services . . .”
Who could be against an initiative that protects the right of patients to choose and pay for a doctor or a health plan? The answer is proponents of a health-care system run by the government. For them, enshrining into law protections for private health plans is anathema. Believe it or not, the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce also opposes the initiative. Its big health-insurance members want to protect their interests as contractors to the state’s Medicaid plan.
Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano argues that Proposition 101 would limit future health-care reform options. Eric Novack, a physician and the chairman of Proposition 101, responds, “The only option that our initiative rules out is a mandatory single-payer system.” Single-payer health-care systems, as in Canada, make it illegal in most cases for people to go outside the government’s system and contract for their own medical services. Arizona’s proposition forbids those kinds of restrictions.
Defenders of a government-run system, Barack Obama among them, insist they have no intention of limiting patient rights to choose health plans and doctors. That is belied, however, by the strong opposition to the Arizona initiative. The Democratic leader of the Arizona state House, Phil Lopes, is trying to pass a single-payer bill which states explicitly: “A person shall not provide private health insurance to a beneficiary for health care that is covered by the health security plan . . . .”
Proposition 101 goes to the heart of the national health-care debate. Universal coverage plans, regulated by government, nearly always try to restrain costs by restricting the choices individual can make. This assumes a uniformity in the real-world of patients or the practice of medicine that simply doesn’t exist, especially amid rapid developments in medical science. Who should decide — the patient or a government treatment schedule — whether a cancer sufferer should be able to try an experimental therapy or under what circumstances a senior citizen gets a hip replacement?
Allowing patients to choose their own medical treatment, get third or fourth opinions, or seek out experimental medicines saves lives. Randy Kendrick, an early supporter of the initiative, says her ability to look around for treatments among doctors after a serious leg injury saved her from what her original physicians said would be a life confined in a wheelchair. Courageous patients and innovative medical clinicians find each other constantly this way. The patient-clinician interface is one reason the U.S. remains a locus of medical progress. Ensuring this progress continues depends on maximizing patient choices. A publicly bureaucratized system will slow it.
Proposition 101’s fate is up in the air because its opponents, led by the Governor, are spending about four times more than supporters. They are doing so in the belief that if health-care choice passes in Arizona, it will spread to other states. It is ironic the groups opposing the rights of Arizona citizens to choose their own health care purport to back a “patient bill of rights.” In what way is the freedom to choose one’s care not a fundamental patient right?

COMMENT: Furthermore, it is long overdue to have a thorough re-evaluation of the role and function of the FDA, which has on occasion abused its power by harassing alternative medicine practitioners without cause. One vital question is: “Why are foods and drugs subsumed in one agency?” Why not let the matter of food safety and quality be handled by one agency, and the matter of regulation over safety and efficacy of drugs be handled by another agency? That would be my preference. The burden of proof of both safety and efficacy ought to be on the manufacturer, based strictly on honest science. Foods and herbs used by people for centuries ought to be presumed safe unless shown otherwise. Invented drugs, however, should have to pass rigorous independent testing, with any contra-indications specified.

COMMENT: This is a multi-sided and complex question, not subject to a simple “yes” or “no”. On principle, I do not support mandated vaccinations, recognizing that people have individual medical histories and that fatalities or deformations resulting from mandated vaccinations are unacceptable. To suspend “all federal funding” to states that have ruled otherwise is too broad a response. On the other hand, rampant spread of infectious diseases has to be a major concern for a president. I would carefully examine the scientific evidence and any impingement on civil liberties before making such a determination. My inclination is to use the persuasive power of the presidency, rather than mandated measures.
We are deeply concerned that the states have been induced by the Federal CDC
to pass legislation which we believe is both ill-advised and unconstitutional
which forces citizens to submit to medical procedures which they may not agree
with or accept on pain of felony charges and penalties, or loss of access to
government schools or other government activities.

actions necessary to impose the emergency medical powers acts passed by nearly

COMMENT: Again, I can’t say unequivocally how I would govern during an epidemic, but I would agree that making a felony out of refusing often dubious allegations about a vaccine would be “off the table.” I might consider a policy of voluntary quarantine of those refusing as an alternative, to avoid inadvertent spread of an infectious disease. People should not be forced to undergo medical procedures against their will.

We are concerned that the current pandemic flu preparations may actually bring
about the very pandemic we all seek to avoid.

While this seems like an excellent endeavor and a fair project, we do not
support the federal government being involved in research or supervision or
regulation of any sort in the health industry. We would encourage private

‘No Forced Vaccine’ Message to NJ

New Jersey is the most vaccinated state in the US. It is also the home to Big Pharma giants like Merck, Johnson and Johnson, Abbot Laboratories, Bristol Myers Squib and more than 60 others. The relationship is hard to miss.
New Jersey became the first state in the Union to mandate annual flu vaccines for every child in the state from 6 months to 18 years and to state publicly that it would make religious and medical exemptions as hard to get as it could. In fact, a fully vaccinated girl in NJ has had 78 vaccines by the age of 15 (75 for boys).
New Jersey bears the shame of being the first state to send out the vaccine police: inspectors who check the records of every preschool child in the state enrolled in a pre school (although they are private) and levy fines of $500 per day per child who is not fully vaccinated.
It is the first state to attempt to pass legislation which would require home schooled children to be vaccinated according to a schedule approved by the Superintendent of Schools (NOT the child’s parents or doctor!) in the child’s home district or have the “privilege” of being home schooled revoked by the district.
New Jersey is clearly not on the same planet as health freedom since a basic definition of that term is the capacity and right to decide what happens to your own body, what goes into it and what you do to it for treatment and prevention of illness.

Michael Pollan is a writer of prodigious intellect and intellegence. His book, “The Omnivore’s Dilemna ” is surely one of the best books I have ever read and although I know quite a bit about food, I learned a great deal more and had a – excuse the phrase – delicious time consuming the book.
Pollan is thoughtful and deeply insightful. He has written an article of great importance to the next president of the United States suggesting that unless he pays close attention to food policy, the United States is vulnerable and cannot be protected.
I concur heartily. In fact, I have been writing for years about the fact that the national immune system is our greatest collective vulnerability (second only to our politicians, of course). Think about it a moment an you will see that it is true: If the nation’s nutrition is as bad as it is, and its food supply is forcing it to get worse, how strong, how efficient, how work-efficient, how clear thinking can we be collectively?

Avian Flu: A pandemic of our own making!

Avian flu danger has dropped for this year, the UN tells us in a press release yesterday, but not to worry! We are still due for the inevitable pandemic – http://tinyurl.com/6ogd2q – so we have to make plans, control the citizenry, kill outdoor flocks (the kind that people have raised for millennia and that a recent Johns Hopkins study shows have the lowest likelihood of developing H5N1 infections) and replace them with factory farms (the kind that multinational corporations have been making huge profits on and degrading the food supply with for decades, the kind that have the highest likelihood of developing H5N1 infections). It is worth noting, of course, that backyard flocks have NEVER developed the H5N1 strain of Avian Flu. It is the factory farmed flocks, which HAVE BEEN VACCINATED AGAINST THE H5N1 STRAIN OF AVIAN FLU WHICH DEVELOP THE DISEASE. If you think there might be a parallel there for human health, you are right, by the way.
Don’t think for a moment, says the UN, that you are out of the woods! Nope! We need more vaccines which are the ‘first line of defense’ against a disease which supposedly does not even exist yet.
Never mind that you simply cannot make a vaccine against something which does not exist, and never mind that the CDC and WHO, who sit down to guess what the viral threat will be next October each March, literally guess wrong more years than they guess right about what virus they should make the flu vaccine against for next season’s “seasonal flu vaccine”. What they waste that way is time, money and the collective and individual immune system capacity of the people whom they coerce or bamboozle into a accepting their toxic jabs.
And never mind that people who get those seasonal flu shots not only get the flu and give it to others since live viruses (like those contained in Flu Mist) are still infective and shed for up to 3 months to other people, like babies and pregnant moms and people on steroids and people who have had transplants and people who have cancer and the very young and the elderly (for example). All of these groups of folks can get the disease from contact with a person who has had the shot or the nasal inoculation! Never mind that yearly flu shots, with their load of
• Aluminum hydroxide
• Mercury (even in “mercury-free” shots)
• Formaldehyde
• Fluoride
• Stealth viruses
• Polysorbate 80 – associated with infertility
• MSG
• Aspartame
• Stray bits of DNA from the culture medium (which can be eggs, human cells or aborted fetal tissue, for example) contain viruses associated with cancer, including leukemia.
Vaccines are good business for the only “stake holder” that the government seems to consider: Big Pharma.
Never mind that recent studies showed that people who had five consecutive influenza vaccinations between the years 1970 and 1980 were ten times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s than were individuals who had none, one or two.
New “blockbuster’ drugs are in precious short supply in the pipeline that produces the wildly lucrative patented chemicals (e.g., “drugs”) which make Big Pharma so much money. Even though manufacturers cut costs by using plants in places like China, “employing”, it is reported, slave labor (which works pretty cheaply) and questionable quality controls, and are now immune from costly liability suits. Still, the profits are simply not on the horizon from block buster new drugs the way they once were. So Big Pharma has turned to Big Vaccine to pull it out of the anticipated hole$ it $ee$ ahead.
Thus
• The hype about vaccines being the first line of defense against bioterrorism and being necessary for herd immunity for diseases that do not yet exist.
• The declaration on October 1, 2008 by President Bush of a state of national emergency over Anthrax – https://staging.drrimatruthreports.com/?p=1257 – so that anthrax vaccine makers can get an extra measure of immunity from liability for the damage their product does since they are even more fully protected against damages when a state of emergency has been declared. By the way, it is my understanding that the government could now, if it decided to do so, order every man, woman and child in the US to have an anthrax vaccine under this state of emergency.
Anthrax? Is Anthrax a Threat?
Not so’s you’d notice. But litigation might be, what with the recent decision of a Georgia court to allow parents to sue both the doctor and the company who made the vaccine that the doctor administered to the child for damages to their child. Vaccination is, you will recall, an unisurable risk meaning that no insurance company is willing to bet on the safety of the “treatment” which governments increasingly want to compel military and civilians alike to accept into their bodies.
And thus the State Medical Emergency Powers Acts which say that if the Governor declares a state of Medical Emergency, pandemic or otherwise, refusing treatment, such as, say, a vaccine, would be a felony offense. People are imprisoned for felony offenses.
How handy to have more than 630 detention centers to take care of all the anticipated felons and add them to the largest per capita (and actual) prison population on the planet in our privatized prison system! Empty and manned, there they sit, just waiting for you to refuse to allow God-Knows-What into your body and those of your children. Have they been privatized, too? Do the same multinational corporations who run US prisons run them, too? Would that explain the reported foreign troops (German, Chinese, Belgian) allegedly stationed at these centers with nothing to do and no one to imprison? Are they, in fact, mercenaries waiting to do the bidding of their employers?
So we really do have to stop this vaccination threat NOW, before we can no longer stop it. And you are the critical player: the voice of people, en masse, really does push back the other side IF we use it. How About Something Light and Refreshing? Perhaps a Party in Panama?

As you know, General Bert and I are currently spending full time in the Highlands of Panama laying the foundation for the Valley of the Moon (TM) Eco Demonstration project. The roads here vary from perfectly paved, smooth and modern to atrocious. There is no way, for example, to get to the house we are renting without driving over a short stretch of awful road which can only be navigated by a regular car at about 3 miles per hour – and that is hazardous to the undercarriage of the vehicle.
So we needed a 4 wheel drive, high chassis car to get around, see the sites we are looking at, and generally survive the parts of the Panamanian road system that is not perfect. We were recommended to a car dealer and a dealership and off we went. Every time we visited Oscar Hernandez at Ricardo Perez in the provincial capital of David, the big, bright and very clean dealership was either having a fiesta or getting ready to have one.
Big, lavish ‘do’s’ with food and music and drinks and flowers.
We finally concluded our 4 wheel drive purchase on Thursday last week. Oscar implored us to come back to David on Friday because the dealership was having another party, but this time, it was going to have typical Panamanian dancing, music and food. Well, we could not resist and, indeed, it was delightful.

About Those Detox Pads…
A number of people wrote to me recently to question the sale of Detox Pads since another physician on the internet said that they were a scam. While I respect the other doctor and his work, I do not agree on his assessment of this particular item. I have had good clinical and personal experiences with these detox tools and have done a little experimentation of my own with them because I was quite skeptical about their function when I first encountered them.
The first time I used them, I put the pads on the soles of my feet as instructed and noted the change in color and consistency in the pads in the morning. The next time I applied them, I put them on the soles of my feet and the inside of my forearm to see if contact with skin or moisture alone would bring about the same results. In the morning, the pads applied to my feet were gooey and brown/green (UGH!) while the ones applied to my forearms were unchanged.
Coupled with the change in my physical state after using the pads, I decided to recommend them to some very toxic patients. Each of the people who used them reported that they experienced a positive change after the use of the pads, although sometimes several applications were necessary to feel that improvement.
I have no idea why these things work. I also have no idea whether the other physician used the same Detox Pads which we make available here on our site. What I do know is that my information testing, my personal experience and the experience of my patients led me to conclude that these items are worth having in my took kit of things that will help detoxification with good clinical results. Otherwise, you may rest assured that we would not offer them for sale!

The Genetically Modified Beet Goes On

After seven years of keeping sugar from genetically modified sugar beets out of their food, Kellogg, Hershey’s and the Wyoming based American Crystal Sugarwill use sugar made from genetically modified (GM) beets.
The decision marks a turnaround for Crystal Sugar, the nation’s largest sugar producer, which declared in May of this year that it had no plans to use GM sugar beets, and indicated that herbicide-resistant varieties developed using biotechnology would not “be sold, given away, distributed, or planted in year 2007.â€
But according to a recent article in the New York Times, the food giants have softened to the idea because public resistance to GM foods seems to have faded. They now support the introduction because it will increase yields and, unlike other GM foods, beet sugar will have no genetically modified strands of altered DNA or proteins left in it by the time it is processed into sugar. Essentially, the genetically modified beet creates the same sucrose as an everyday sugar beet. This has been an important distinction for the industry as a way to assuage consumer concerns and expand the sugar beet market, which is the source for about one-half of American sugar.
Produced by Monsanto, GM beets are also called Roundup Ready Beets because their DNA has been altered to survive applications of Roundup weed-killer. The glyphosate based herbicide Roundup is widely used to kill weeds, but is strong enough to kill crops. A genetically modified beet is resistant to Roundup, allowing farmers to kill the weeds and keep the beets.
But the health risks of glyphosate are poorly understood. Some studies have connected glyphosate exposure to cancer, organ damage in animals, human reproduction and fetal development. Glyphosate has also created super-weeds, resistant to the herbicide much like humans are becoming resistant to some antibiotics. Genetically modified foods can also spread and interbreed with non-GM crops, reducing crop diversity and creating other, uncontrollable super-weeds.
While the ecological and health issues are debated, the often overlooked factor in the increasing use of GM seed and food is that it gives Monsanto a great deal of control over the production of food. A handful of corporations like Monsanto are involved in agricultural biotechnology. Their products of genetically modified corn, soybeans and sugar beets are then patented much like the work of other inventors in order to limit the way seeds can be used and distributed. Biotech patents have been controversial however because the companies are patenting biology, DNA, the basic structure of life and then claiming it as their invention in order to sell it.
These patents have already caused problems for farmers and ranchers. In the last decade, farmers whose non-GM crops inadvertently breed with Monsanto’s Genetically Modified and patent protected crops have actually been sued for illegally growing Monsanto’s seed. In 2000, Monsanto sued a Canadian farmer when a neighboring farm’s Roundup Ready crops went to seed and mixed with the their crops. Nelson Farms of North Dakota is also being sued for saving Roundup Ready seed and planting it the next year. While saving seed is the ancient and core practice of farming, farmers sign a Monsanto agreement not to save or share any seed.
While organizations like the Organic Consumers Organization’s Millions Against Monsanto campaign against biotechnology, Monsanto continues to develop new seed technologies. As it expands the number of patents it has on those technologies it will also expand its power to sue individual producers and control the market. In doing so, Vandana Shiva, a physicist, farmers’ rights activist and author of Monocultures of the Mind argues that farmers and ranchers using GM seeds will continue to find themselves limited by GM seed rather than enabled by it. As she writes, “Corporate strategies and products can lead to diversification of commodities; they cannot enrich nature’s diversity.â€
Even so, the Rocky Mountain West has become a testing ground for genetically modified foods. In 2001 Roundup Ready wheat was grown in fields in Idaho and Washington and GM alfalfa grown in Idaho. Genetically modified beets have already been grown on 300 acres in Idaho during test trials for Monsanto and another 2,200 acres in Wyoming’s Big Horn Basin.
While sugar beet farmers await the outcome of these trials and the products full release next year, the sugar industry is keeping a low profile about their use of GM beets in order to reduce the chance of a public outcry according to the New York Times. To further protect its interests, Monsanto recently hired Parven Pomper Schulyer Inc. to lobby the federal government on agriculture, trade and tax issues. Those registered to lobby for Monsanto include Brian Pomper, who served as chief international trade counsel for Montana Senator Max Baucus from 1997 to 2003, Beau Schuyler, who was legislative director to Rep. John Tanne; and Melissa Wier, former assistant to the chief of staff to Sen. Tom Carper.
With this effort and continued growth in GM foods, Monsanto “expects to double the gross profit potential of business from the end of 2007 through 2012.â€

Standard search engine algorithms reward the interaction of these elements with very high search engine status. Our allies on the Internet have broken the “quack-watch†secret! As you may know from certain recent litigation, the “quack-busters†are on the run! They are losing cases and credentials around the country. Now’s the time to act to take back the discourse on Advanced Healthcare!
Allies of the Natural Solutions Foundation have established the Advanced Healthcare Web Ring to make those facets start to work for us. The “quack-watchers†have created a powerful Internet position with just a few dozen leaders and activists, making it appear they are much larger than they are. Our Advanced Healthcare Providers number many more than that. We also know the Health Freedom Movement includes thousands of web sites and activists with millions of email supporters.
We propose to activate these groups to build the strongest and most powerful Web Ring ever.

At this stage, what we need are (1) people to use the Advanced Health Wiki and the Advanced Healthcare Web Ring and (2) commitments to be Founding Members. When a Member joins, the Member will be given your own unique link (like our link above) which can be used to promote the Web Ring to other potential members to earn membership commissions! Further detailed terms are found at the sign-up page. Members will be able to obtain the unique link “html†information directly from their Web Ring “back office†which keeps track of commissions. The special Web Ring Banner that appears on each Member’s homepage and other pages is obtained there too.
You will need to provide the Web Ring with the information needed for your listing (by completing the sign up page) and will have to post the Web Ring Banner and Trademark Ethics Code Seal on your main page (you can put same on as many pages at you want, and we believe it will be in your interest to do so).
In addition to the commitment and banner placement, the Web Ring member companies will appoint one specific person in the organization who will be that member’s Web Ring Representative (WRR). To make this work, we will need the cooperation of the WRRs – to post links on the Member site to the Ring; to assist in keeping Wikipedia and the Blogisphere honest and to act in concert to counter “quack-watch†attacks on any Web Ring Member. WRRs will be able to qualify as a Volunteer Editors of the Advanced Healthcare Wiki, and this will be an important interface to guarantee an effective system of Internet search engine positioning. Web Ring Members can post information about their companies on the Wiki.
